INNER COSMO
CEL-SHADED ANIMATION
Project Content:
- This project is an approximately 3-minute 3D-rendered-2D animated short film. It tells the story of a girl who, after a rupture between the virtual and real world, accidentally enters her own desolate inner world. By rediscovering forgotten beautiful memories, she rebuilds her inner universe.
Core Objectives:
- To explore the loss and return of one's true self in the digital age;
- To construct an emotional journey of healing, moving from "escape" to "awakening";
- To evoke the audience's attention and appreciation for their own inner emotional world.
- Personal Experience:I often find myself trapped in a cycle of endlessly scrolling through short videos or losing myself in video games, even when fully aware of the responsibilities and meaningful tasks awaiting me in the real world. This behavior stems less from genuine enjoyment and more from a desire to escape. Yet, each time I set down my phone or exit the game, what rushes in is not relief, but a profound sense of emptiness and lingering dissatisfaction.
- External Phenomena:Among the younger generation, "lying flat" and escapism are no longer merely personal choices, but have evolved into a widespread social mentality. This phenomenon is deeply intertwined with the rise of immersive technologies—such as gaming, short-form video platforms, and the VR/metaverse—which simultaneously provide an outlet for escape and exacerbate emotional disconnection in reality. Meanwhile, rapid urbanization continues to weaken deep interpersonal bonds, leaving many physically clustered yet spiritually adrift, trapped in a crisis of belonging.
