3D ANIMATION

This project uses 3D animation to imagine
a future where people worship AI and smart
machines as gods. It shows a world where
computer code becomes the new scripture
and system updates are like sacred rituals.
The work asks a tough question: in chasing
after this "techno-divine," are we ultimately
making ourselves obsolete?

INSPIRATION

The spark for this project ignited from the ironic contrast between ancient spiritual practices and the modern phenomenon of digital worship—where people "pray" to algorithms for luck, answers, or even emotional solace. Observing viral trends like AI-generated Buddha statues, blockchain "blessings," and meditation apps monetizing mindfulness, I began questioning: Could technology become the new divine?

Closed source softwareAlso known as proprietary software, is software whose source code is not made available to the public. This means that only the original authors or organizations have the right to access, modify, and distribute the software. Users typically receive only the executable files and must adhere to the licensing terms set by the software provider.

Foundation models by access type,2023
Two -thirds of the models are open source, but the most performance model comes from industry participants with closed systems.

CONCLUSION

Technology's power lies with developers, yet its unchecked expansion often neglects ethical consequences, creating physical and moral dilemmas. As human creativity yields to technology, we risk losing autonomy. From Thales' animism to AI divinity, technology serves as both transcendence and control. My work questions this paradox: are we creating uncontrollable new deities?

JOCELYN

As a digital artist at the intersection of 3D animation and dynamic visuals, my work extends across animated film, experimental video, and wearable art. I specialize in leveraging technology to construct visual narratives that carry philosophical inquiry. Whether collaborating or working solo, my projects aim to interrogate pressing themes such as technological ethics, memory, and identity. I hold a firm belief that truly resonant work is grounded in profound human insight and exists to foster humanistic reflection.

Urbanization has led to the upcoming demolition of old houses in Suzhou's Shadow Garden, where some people once lived.Once demolished, former residents will no longer find traces of their past when recalling memories. As a Suzhou native with childhood garden memories, I created this project to explore urban evolution and the disappearance of "home" culture.

Compelled by the encroaching oceans to imitate the very marine life they once sought to rule, humans enter a new chapter of existence. In this act of technological mimicry—be it through bionic respiration or engineered ecosystems—lies the ultimate exposure: the failure of their project of domination, laid bare by their own dependency on the blueprint they could never perfect.
